Biographies
Sugiko Chinen and Luca A. M. Colombo founded their duo during a concert in Milan in 1995, beginning an intense concert career that has taken them across Europe (Italy, France, Spain, Austria, Poland, Norway, Czech Republic) and Japan, performing in concert seasons and international festivals.
Coming from such diverse cultural backgrounds—Italy and Japan—they have developed a unique and original sensitivity in piano four hands performance, widely appreciated by audiences and critics alike. Their meticulous study of scores leads to a profound understanding of music, producing a singing tone, free yet rigorous phrasing, and a dynamic range inspired by orchestral textures. Their distinctive style is characterized by a rich timbral palette, elegant phrasing, and delicate nuances.
After years focused on 19th- and 20th-century Italian and French piano duos (Casella, Respighi, Busoni, Debussy, Ravel, Fauré, and Satie), they expanded their repertoire to Viennese Classicism (Mozart, Schubert, Czerny), Northern European Romanticism (Schumann, Grieg), and major composers of the late 20th century (Poulenc, Rota, Nakada, and Piazzolla).
Daniele Crasti graduated from the Accademia dei Filodrammatici in Milan after two years of training with masters such as Massimo Loreto, Karina Arutyunyan, Bruno Fornasari, Riccardo Pradella, and Massimilano Cividati. He further honed his skills through seminars with Nikolaj Karpov, Peter Clough, and Ambra D’Amico, later refining his craft with Marcello Magni and Paolo Nani.
He has an extensive career as an actor, director, voice actor, and teacher, collaborating with numerous Italian theaters, including the Teatro Filodrammatici, Teatro San Babila, Teatro I, Teatro Stabile d’Innovazione, Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Teatro Carcano, Teatro Elfo Puccini, and others. He is a founding member of the theater company Oyes, which won the first prize at the Giovani Realtà Teatrali competition of the Nico Pepe Academy in Udine with the play Effetto Lucifero.
