Luciana Matalon. Conversations
December 5, 2024 – January 30, 2025
Fondazione Luciana Matalon
In January, the Fondazione Luciana Matalon hosts a selection of works from its private collection, alongside pieces by its founder. The exhibition Luciana Matalon. Conversations celebrates the cultural legacy of an artist who, in 2000, established a space that encapsulates and enhances over fifty years of creative exploration. Through this, she fostered a dialogue among contemporary arts, offering a universal perspective on the world, as both a mirror of reality and a bridge to the unseen.
The exhibition includes paintings by international artists such as Armodio, Simone Butturini, Ennio Calabria, Gianni Dova, Samo Koler, Paola Levi-Montalcini, Monica Marioni, Josè Molina, Petros, Mimmo Rotella, as well as sculptures by Giorgio Scaini and Walter Valentini.
One notable piece on display is a 1970s tapestry, the result of a collaboration between Yvette Cauquil-Prince and Max Ernst, a prominent figure in Surrealism. The work translates Ernst’s dreamlike visions into fabric, elevating Cauquil-Prince’s innovative language, which perpetuates modern artists’ poetics through the medium of tapestry.
Rounding out the exhibition, a renewed display of the permanent collection offers a journey through Luciana Matalon’s career. Paintings, sculptures, and unique jewelry narrate her inseparable blend of reality and invention, unveiling symbols and forms that transcend the boundaries of time.
